WEDDING
The marriage of Tomas Tiernan and Eimear Quinn took place on Saturday 14th June in the Church of St. John the Baptist, Hospital, Co. Limerick. Tomas is the son of John and Joan Tiernan, Carrigagown, Carney, and Eimear is the daughter of Sean and Margaret Quinn, Kilteely, Hospital, Co. Limerick. The wedding service was performed by Canon Ryan, assisted by Fr. Michael Cooney. Eimear’s bridesmaids were her sisters Mairead and Roisin Quinn. Tomas’s best-man was his brother Sean and his groomsman was cousin, Shane Campbell. The page boy was Eimear’s nephew Luke Quinn and her flower-girl was her god-daughter and cousin, Aisling O’Loughlin. After receiving congratulations and good wishes from their families and guests, Tomas and Eimear were joined at The Woodlands Hotel, Adare, for a beautiful reception. The honeymoon is being spent in Portugal and we wish Tomas and Eimear a long and happy life together.

60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Best wishes are extended to Mary and Mick Molamphy, Coolbawn, who celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last Saturday, 21st June. We wish Mary and Mick many more years of happiness together and once more thank them for their wonderful service to the village of Coolbawn.

TERRYGLASS ARTS FESTIVAL
The Terryglass Arts Festival 2014 will run from Wednesday 13th August until Sunday 17th August. The renowned songwriter Jimmy MacCarthy will bring his ‘Prophecy/Conspiracy ?’ tour to Terryglass Church on Friday 15th August. Tickets cost €25 each and are now available to purchase from The Derg Shop, Terryglass or phone 087 2181663. Tickets will also be available on line from mid July.

TERRYGLASS ICA
The monthly meeting of Terryglass ICA Guild took place on Wednesday 11th June in Terryglass Community Hall. Votes of sympathy were passed with the relatives of Mary B Cahalan, formerly Drominagh, who died in Dublin and all other families in the parish who had bereavements. A minutes silence was observed. Our President, Noi, was welcomed back after two months in Thailand. A plan was discussed to meet up during the summer for a meal out. The meeting concluded with the President wishing everyone a great summer and the next meeting will be the first Wednesday in September.

WELL DONE
Our congratulations to the Kilbarron School Under13 Camogie team who won the County Final in Semple Stadium last week. Well done to all concerned.

TERRYGLASS IMPROVEMENTS ASSOC.
The weekly working evening meets in the village square at 7pm each Tuesday, volunteers are always welcome. Please consider coming and assisting in keeping the village at its high standard with the Tidy Towns Competition in the offing. Householders are again being asked to be vigilant about litter left around the village.

KILBARRON DEVELOPMENT
Work is continuing to go well in Kilbarron and surrounds, and this can be witnessed from the tidiness and work on grass and flower beds. If you can spare time on a Tuesday evening please come along to the village around 7pm all help would be much appreciated.

BALLINDERRY VILLAGE IMPROVEMENTS
Ballinderry Village Improvements meets each Thursday at 7pm at Elsie Hogan’s. Please bring bags and weeding equipment, all ages welcome.

COMMUNITY ALERT
The Tip of the Week is-There are plenty of ways that you can protect your home from being targeted for crime. Don’t leave spare keys outside or in a garage or shed. Keep garden sheds and garages locked and think about a battery operated alarm. Keep garage and car keys out of sight in the house. Don’t leave window and door keys in the locks. Always draw your curtains at night and make sure valuable items cannot be seen from outside.

CHURCH NEWS
The Cemetery Mass will take place in Kilbarron on Wednesday 2nd July at 8pm. Please contact families outside the parish who have relatives buried in the cemetery and would like to attend the service.

BINGO
There is Bingo every Monday in Terryglass Community Hall at 8.30pm sharp organised by the Shannon Rovers GAA Club with great money prizes, including an excellent Jackpot of €1,000. Contact Oliver Darcy for further information. The prizes are excellent with €15, €20 for a line and two lines respectively and full houses now range from €50, €70, €100 and €120. There is a flyer for €150 each week and the full house if the jackpot isn’t won is €100.
Buses are available from the surrounding area,i.e.Nenagh/Ardcroney/Borrisokane/Ballinderry and Ballingarry/Rathcabbin/Lorrha/Carrigahorig/Terryglass. Buses depart at 7pm and for further information contact Ken Daly 087 6273177 .

LOWER ORMOND ACTIVE RETIREMENT
The next outing of the club is on Monday 14th July. A coach will depart from Borrisokane at 10.30am travelling to Galway city for some shopping and then on to ‘The Galleon’ Salthill for a three course meal following by an afternoon in Salthill The subsidized cost is €10 and names can be given to Jimmy Donnelly 067 38237 or Loretta Tiernan 28066.
